MELE at Na Hoku Hanohano Awards

The MELE Program was represented well at this year's 2014 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards!  On Friday, May 23, 2014, MELE instructors John Vierra and Eric Lagrimas were featured in a panel, as part of the Na Hoku Hanohano Workshop Series, called "Music Biz 101."  The engaging panel covered a wide range of topics with regards to "getting started" in the music business.  Other featued speakers include local artist manager Bran Apeles and PR pro Tracy Larua from Poi Planet.

On Saturday, May 24, 2014, MELE graduates had a hand in several 2014 Na Hoku Hanohano Award winning projects!  We extend our congratulations to:

Lock Lynch (2012, Audio Engineering) and Neal Chin (2014, Music Business) - Members in the musical collective The Akira Project, Hip Hop Album of the Year.

Noah Cronin (2013, Audio Engineering) - Engineering credits for The Green's "Hawaii '13", Entertainter of the Year, Group of the Year, and Reggae Album of the Year.

Honorable mentions to the following Na Hoku Hanohano Award nominees:

Eric Lagrimas (MELE Music Business Instructor) - "'Umi: A Pass Out Records Anthology" for Anthology Album of the Year

This was also the first year where members of the newly formed "MELE Alumni Group" attended the event.  Attendees include Aaron Domingo (2009, Music Business & 2012 Belmont University graduate), Clarence Lloren (2013, Music Business) and Joe Gosalvez (2014, Music Business) (Clarence & Joe pictured at right).
