MELE students have the opportunity to become involved in Student Life at HCC and in the greater Honolulu community through participation in student organizations.
In addition, the MELE Program offers students the opportunity to be involved with professional organizations, nationally and internationally, for the Music Business and Audio Engineering fields.
MELE in cooperation with the Pacific Northwest Chapter of NARAS (National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences) welcomed the first GRAMMY U Chapter in Hawaii in Fall 2011. This special members-only organziation provides students with an opportunity to get behind the scenes of the music & entertainment industry. To find out more or to join: www.grammy365.com
The MELE Club was established FALL 2008, as a Honolulu Community College Club, for the purpose of promoting growth in the music and entertainment industry throughout Hawai'i and abroad. The Club provides members with the opportunity to apply knowledge acquired through the program to a real world environment.
MELE Club members pay dues, attend meetings, participate in elections, and are a part of the broader HCC Student Life and Development department and ASUH-HCC Student Senate Campus Clubs Committee.
Club members have been active in many interesting and important projects such as the MELE Showcase, Christmas Lokahi Project, participating in the Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, Hoku Lifetime Achievement Awards, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, Springfest, to name a few.
